Remix and re-issue of the Original 1980 release along with new material and new recordings of the band.

During the late 1970’s and early 80’s there was one band playing around Los Angeles that every jazz musician and jazz fan wanted to hear. A Caribbean jazz ensemble called Baya. The band was made up of eight regular members, George Cables (piano), John Heard (bass), Roger Bethelmy (drums), Vince Charles (steel drums, timbales and percussion), Pat Murphy (congas and percussion), Larry Klimas (saxes and flutes), Ralf Rickert (trumpet and flugel horn) and Doug Wintz (trombones). All of these regulars had other gigs that sustained them monetarily through this period, playing and recording with such luminaries as Dexter Gordon, Ella Fitzgerald, George Benson, Neil Diamond, Harry Nilsson, Tony Williams, Tom Jones and others, but when they were home in L. A., Baya was their passion.

This CD is a “must have” for fans of these great musicians!
